Pasadena Facelift Surgery
Signs of aging are most visible in the face and neck as we start to see the accumulation of excess skin and sagging tissues. Jowls develop, the cheeks descend and the contours of the neck and jaw are lost. There are multiple different treatments available, both surgical and non-surgical, to address these areas. Injectable fillers and Botox are used to treat fine dynamic lines and loss of volume. Laser and light energy can be used to rejuvenate and resurface the skin. However, when facial and neck tissues need to be repositioned and redundant skin removed a facelift procedure is indicated. A facelift surgery is more than just tightening of the skin; it involves restoring facial tissues to their previous, youthful place. The facelift surgery is also not a one-size-fits-all procedure. There are different types of facelifts that can be performed depending on the patients’ specific anatomy and desires. After a careful, comprehensive evaluation of your face and neck Dr. Ruhge in Pasadena will recommend the best method to achieve the look you desire.
Client Testimonial
"Friends and family are constantly telling me that I must be getting rest or be taking vitamins because I look so good. Even my family that lives out of town said that I look so good but they didn’t know why! I have no visible scars! The results far surpassed my highest expectations." - K.T.
The Facelift Surgery
Traditional Facelift surgery involves placement of an incision that runs hidden within the hair above the ear, along the front edge of the ear, behind the ear and back again into the hair. This facelift procedure is indicated when there is significant facial laxity and sagging in the neck. Many people however, will be candidates for a short-scar or mini-facelift. This is not a lesser procedure than a traditional facelift. It is a very powerful technique that is appropriate for those with mild to moderate facial aging and sagging. Dr. Ruhge will advise you as to which technique is appropriate to your needs. Facelifts are usually performed as an outpatient procedure in a fully accredited surgery center. Anesthesia is administered by a Board Certified Anesthesiologist.
After Surgery
Following surgery you are cared for by a registered nurse in the surgery center recovery room. Once you are fully awake a friend or relative may take you home. The wounds will be covered with bandages and two small drains will be in place to remove any fluid that may collect under the skin. The drains are removed at your first post-operative visit. You are seen at frequent intervals during the first few weeks and months following surgery to ensure proper healing. Swelling and bruising usually resolve within two weeks. Dr. Ruhge recommends allowing two weeks for recovery before returning to work. You may begin light exercise after three weeks and strenuous exercise after five weeks. The final look and feel after a facelift takes approximately three months.
