Pasadena Liposuction Surgery
Liposuction surgery is a procedure used to contour and define areas of the body where fat accumulates. It is especially useful in areas resistant to diet and exercise. Multiple different areas can be treated alone or at the same time, including the abdomen, love handles, back, chest, thighs, and chin. Liposuction surgery is most appropriate for people with localized accumulations of fat and good skin tone. Dr. Kevin Ruhge, M.D. is a leading Pasadena liposuction surgeon, bringing experience and guidance for those considering a liposuction surgery.

He is an expert in his field, educated me well about my surgery and most importantly did a great job! Words can never express how grateful I am." - L.O.
The Liposuction Surgery
Liposuction surgery is performed using the tumescent technique whereby the areas being treated are infused with anesthetic solution (lidocaine and epinephrine) that allows for smooth, even removal of fat with minimal pain and bruising. The liposuction procedure is carried out through small inconspicuous incisions carefully placed to gain access to the areas being sculpted. For our patients in Pasadena, Liposuction surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure in a fully accredited surgery center. Anesthesia is administered by a Board Certified Anesthesiologist.
After Surgery
Following liposuction surgery you are cared for by a registered nurse in the surgery center recovery room. Once you are fully awake a friend or relative may take you home. The small incisions will be covered with dressings and you will be wearing a compression garment. The compression garment will be worn night and day for two weeks and then only at night for two more weeks. You are seen at frequent intervals during the first few weeks and months following surgery to ensure proper healing. The small sutures used to close the access incisions are removed in seven days. Dr. Ruhge recommends that you be off of work for one week following the procedure though in certain circumstances less time may be feasible. Light exercise may be commenced at two weeks and more strenuous exercise at four weeks to allow proper healing. Although you will notice a significant difference in two to three weeks following liposuction the final shape and form are not seen for approximately three months. Throughout the entire process Dr. Ruhge will guide you and advise you regarding all matters related to your liposuction surgery and recovery.
Related Procedures
Liposuction can be performed as an isolated procedure but is often combined with others. Typical plastic surgical procedures done along with liposuction are breast augmentation, breast lift, tummy tuck or facial rejuvenation.
